Gozleme is a traditional Turkish flatbread stuffed with a variety of fillings such as spinach, cheese, and minced meat. This delicious dish is known for its crispy exterior and flavorful interior. It’s perfect for a light meal or as a snack, often enjoyed with a side of yogurt or salad.

Ingredients for Gozleme

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups, chopped spinach
  • 1 cup, crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 cup minced meat (optional)
  • to taste black pepper
  • for serving yogurt

Instructions for Making Gozleme

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, and minced meat (if using). Season with black pepper.
  6. Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball out into a thin circle.
  7. Place a portion of the filling on one half of the circle, then fold the other half over to create a half-moon shape.
  8. Seal the edges by pressing down with your fingers or a fork.
  9. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with olive oil.
  10. Cook each gozleme for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Serve hot with a side of yogurt.
