Turkish meatballs, known as Kofte, are a flavorful and juicy delight made with minced meat, aromatic spices, and herbs. These meatballs can be grilled, fried, or baked and are typically served with a side of rice, salad, or pita bread. Ideal for gatherings and family dinners, they bring a taste of Turkey to your table.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 medium, finely chopped onion
  • 3 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup, chopped parsley
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • for frying olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, bread crumbs, egg, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into small, oval-shaped meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  4. Cook the meatballs for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are browned and cooked through. You may need to do this in batches.
  5. Once cooked, remove the meatballs from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve the Turkish meatballs with rice, salad, and pita bread, drizzled with yogurt or a tomato-based sauce, if desired.
